“It’s a Madd, Madd World” is an anthology of cartoonist Paul “Madd” Kelemba’s long-running column. MMW first appeared in the Daily Nation in 1989 as a black and white strip at the bottom of the letters page and was meant to look at some “crazy” happenings in life. Since then it has developed gradually into a very popular full page, full color composite feature in The Standard’s Saturday edition.
“I rely a lot on contributions from readers who, for years, have sent in anecdotes that I illustrate. But, as a “man about town”, I also collect from social places. Some fans are even “scared” of me when I turn up somewhere – I’m always armed with a notebook and a cell phone camera. For me, MMW has to be interactive. The reader is a very important and integral part of the product.”
